Overview

Award-winning, full service communications agency, Redleaf Polhill, has been established for 15 years with an impressive portfolio of clients.

The Need

Redleaf Polhill’s Chief Exec, Emma Kane, had taken part in a development day we ran for the Barbican, where she is Chairman of the Barbican Centre Trust. She was quick to see where some of the sessions we ran could be applied to fine tune the team working in her own business. The Agency has built a great reputation and Emma is very proud of her team; this was seen as a way to help the team recognise and build on its strengths and offer some personal development to everyone in their roles.

Our Solution

We proposed two key elements to the development programme:-

  • a series of one to one coaching sessions for all 12 senior team members, based on debriefing 360 degree feedback
  • a Belbin team role assessment for each person, also debriefed individually and then explored further in a workshop, bringing everyone together to look at the roles they each gravitate towards in a team environment.

All team members found the sessions invaluable, each having clear actions to help them use their (many) strengths to better effect and particularly in the context of the Agency’s business plan.  There has subsequently been a greater sense of appreciation between people, as they are all more aware of their own and others’ contributions. 

The sessions also highlighted some themes and areas for the senior team to consider as part of their longer term development planning, such as creating a structured talent management strategy.

And on a light hearted note, the Belbin roles were also used in a Circus Skills activity for their Christmas work event!

 Emma has commented that she has seen a real difference, stating that she feels the sessions have been “transformational” for the business.
