Stateside Foods is a leading food manufacturer, producing chilled pizzas at a state of the art site in Bolton.
The HR and senior management team had recognised that to maintain their leading position in the market and to be seen as an employer of choice, the company needed a more structured approach to developing its management capability.
Natalie Wolstenholme, HR manager, who was responsible for instigating the ILM programme with us, also saw it as part of a wider drive to build a business with strong ethics and values and wanted it to cement Stateside foods’ reputation as a great place to work.
We initially helped the business create a behavioural framework which used the language of the business and helped to provide a benchmark for the positive, co operative culture Natalie was keen to build.
This was rolled out through a number of communication channels and then really embedded through the design and delivery of 3 levels of ILM endorsed management training.
Each programme at Supervisor, Middle management and Senior Management level was linked to the behavioural framework and required participants to participate in a number of stages...
The senior managers and directors also benefitted from insight gained from using self assessment tools. A 360 feedback exercise was also linked to the new behaviours and one to one coaching was used to support their development around these.
We have run 2 programmes with over 100 Managers passing and gaining ILM recognition.
Stateside have been delighted at the impact the programme has had with MD Jon Lucas commenting that the organisation had already seen a direct benefit to the bottom line through managers implementing the changes identified as part of the programme. "When we started down this journey I didn't anticipate I would end up feeling so proud of what our team have achieved. I really am so very proud of everyone. I consider us to be very lucky that we have found Focal Point & I thank them for all their terrific contribution to get us to this point."
The successes from each programme have been celebrated with 2 awards ceremonies in January and October. Jon Lucas presented the managers with their certificates praising the high standards of achievement and a number of high scoring managers presented the main points from their assignments to share their ideas and good practice with the rest of the business. The presentation line up was completed with the Director of Customer Services and Operations for ILM, who explained how the ILM membership (which all have gained through passing the programme) can support managers in their continued development.
