Weston College and HM Prison Service
We have worked closely this month with Weston College to provide an ILM endorsed programme for managers at both the college and the prison service. The two organisations work in partnership to provide offender learning and this has been a great opportunity to support them in their own development to take their leadership skills forward and also to give them a platform to consider how to work more effectively together. Over 45 delegates have participated and are currently working hard on their assignments as part of the ILM programme. Looking forward to seeing the results!
Wimbledon and Putney Commons
Having worked to support the management team at the Commons recently, we were invited back to work with the keeper team and our trainer Janet facilitated a session about providing the highest possible standards of customer care for the Commons. With lots of actions and ideas to work on, we are now looking forward to further sessions with the green keepers and maintenance teams.
With a keen understanding that people are the drivers of any commercial success, the proactive HR team at Allianz wanted to ensure they were taking the right steps to create a truly engaged workforce. They asked us to facilitate a number of focus groups to draw experiences and ideas out from employees in their offices across the country. The feedback will then be incorporated into their actions for increasing employee engagement levels further.
Our work with the lovely people at AA Thornton continued in January and February with workshops for all team members looking at promoting positive working relationships and team working.
Our facilitator and coach Shelley has also been running tailored one to one sessions with each of the partners and associates to debrief Myers Briggs profiles and help each identify how to enhance their approach to communication and decision making. We are looking forward to a workshop in April to bring the senior team together to identify how they can use this awareness to inform the way they all work together.
Our trainers Heather, Liz and Janice have all been busy supporting various teams and depts at Southbank centre in the last couple of months... from a fun, interactive session on project management for their “snappy seminar” series to more diversity and inclusion workshops and sessions for managers on the often thorny issue of managing sickness absence.

Stella Chandler and I founded Focal Point on a shared belief that a training course run in isolation doesn't work. We passionately believe there must be support both before and after the training or coaching session itself for it to make a difference. When I am not facilitating sessions with clients or looking at ways to grow the Focal Point business, you will find me in a calming yoga class...
