Clyde and Co LLP
We are into our 3rd year of working with international Law firm Clyde and Co. Having rolled out training to support the implementation of their behaviour at work policy, we have also helped Managers develop skills to hold “difficult conversations” and in the last month have worked with the L and D team to design a series of sessions on Managing Performance and Behaviour with an emphasis on managing fairly. This has included looking at how unconscious bias can affect our communication and decision making and helping managers understand the practical implications of anti discrimination legislation when managing people.
Having worked with Stateside for 2 years providing a tailored ILM endorsed programme for 3 levels of Management and Leadership, we are focussing this year on developing other skill areas. Our trainer Heather kicked 2014 off with some training to help managers fine tune their presenting skills, to use in a variety of settings from team meetings to conferences. They had a very productive 2 days using smart phones and tablets to video themselves in action!
We have worked with a group of key managers over the last few months to develop their management skills. Ensuring standards of service are high across the board is a vital part of upholding the Barbican’s reputation as a world leading arts centre. But managing teams in an environment which is in the spotlight like this and also has periods of intense activity and pressure can be challenging. The programme we designed combined workshops and one to one coaching to help managers address the specific challenges they have in this environment and has resulted in some great feedback for them!
Last month our delegates at Balhousie were embarking on their ILM assignments as part of their management development programme. We are delighted to say they have all passed and we are looking forward to hearing about some celebrations! Congratulations everyone!
I joined Stella and Tracy at Focal Point in 2003 and have seen both the Company and my role evolve during this time. I now work closely with the management team to achieve and improve business efficiently. To re-energise myself after a day in the office, I like to go to Zumba classes in the evening!
