A survey out from YouGov this week states that over a quarter of people are not happy in their jobs. The survey highlights lack of career progression as one of the main reasons.
While we would agree that advancement is a key driver for many when it comes to job satisfaction, we believe there is often a more fundamental ingredient missing – a happy, respectful working environment. Career progression and reward only become important after more basic needs are met; a sense of belonging, of recognition and being valued.

No amount of promotion or money is going to help if your boss is a bully or you are being picked on by team members.

So ask yourselves...
Is your organisation somewhere people feel comfortable?
Are they treated with respect – by managers and colleagues?
Are they genuinely included and valued?
Are people polite and courteous to each other?

Follow our top tips for creating a workplace based on respect to help you answer yes to these questions and give people daily reasons for wanting to stay and progress with your organisation... and ensure they are not one of the 25% desperate to get out.
